Pocket Tools Privacy Policy
Pocket Tools is designed to help you organise everyday life. This policy explains what information is handled when you use the Pocket Tools iOS app and support website.
Information we handle
- Account information: if you create an account or sign in, Firebase Authentication processes your email address, account identifier and the sign-in method you choose (email/password, Google or Sign in with Apple).
- Your tracker content: plans, tasks, budgets, bills, debts, travel lists, work shifts and notes you add are stored in your own private iCloud account via Apple's CloudKit, so this content stays tied to your Apple ID and is not accessible to us.
- Photos and documents you scan: if you use the receipt scanner or ID Wallet, the camera captures the image you choose to scan. Scanned receipts and ID documents (such as a passport or driving licence) are stored in your private iCloud, and the ID Wallet section is protected by Face ID on your own device.
- Calendar and Reminders: if you turn on Calendar or Reminders sync, Pocket Tools reads and writes the events or reminders you choose to sync with Apple's Calendar and Reminders apps on your device.
- Friend and sharing features: if you use Split Bills or Shared Shifts, your email address and display name are stored in a shared directory (hosted on Firebase Cloud Firestore) so people you invite can find and link accounts with you. Shared expense and shift data is synced between linked accounts through that same service.
- Purchases: if you buy Pocket Tools Premium, Apple's StoreKit processes the purchase — we never see your card or payment details. Your Premium status is synced across your own devices via iCloud.
- Notifications: reminders you set for bills, tasks, shifts and other trackers are scheduled as local and push notifications on your device.
- Support information: if you contact us, we use the information you provide to respond to your request.
Sign-in providers
Pocket Tools uses Firebase Authentication. You may choose email/password sign-in, Google Sign-In or Sign in with Apple. These providers process authentication information under their own privacy policies. Pocket Tools does not use your Google or Apple account for advertising.
How information is used
We use account information to sign you in, protect your account, sync your content across your own devices, and provide the features you request. We do not sell your personal information or use it for targeted advertising, and Pocket Tools does not use any third-party analytics or tracking services.
Sharing
We share information only with the service providers needed to run the app: Firebase (Authentication, and Cloud Firestore if you use friend or sharing features) and Apple (CloudKit for syncing your content, and StoreKit for purchases). If you invite or link with another Pocket Tools user, that person can see the email and display name you've chosen to share for that purpose. We don't sell information or share it with advertisers, and otherwise share it only where required by law.
Retention and deletion
You can delete your account in the Pocket Tools app at Profile → Delete account. This removes your Firebase sign-in and the tracker content stored in your private iCloud. If you've used friend or sharing features, your entry in the shared directory (email and display name) is generally removed as part of this process; if any trace of it remains, contact us at the email below and we'll remove it promptly. If you reinstall the app or erase your device, locally cached data is also removed.
Security
We use Firebase Authentication for account sign-in, Apple's CloudKit for storing your synced content, and Face ID to protect the ID Wallet on your own device. No method of electronic storage is completely secure, so please use a strong password and keep your device protected.
Children
Pocket Tools is not directed to children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect information from children under 13.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as Pocket Tools changes. The latest version will always be available on this page.
